TruTrus is the leader in the Southwestern United States for commercial wood trusses. Though our sales team is the "front line" with our customer, we have a depth of experience that promotes our Corporate Mission Statement to, "Sell an innovative building component package using our extensive manufacturing and engineering experience to design a superior, cost effective product."
Our History
-
Brothers David and Henry Chambers founded Imperial Components, Inc. in 1960. At that time, roof trusses were a new product and there was not a ready market with buyers waiting. An order was the result of many sales calls, the first of which normally explained what roof trusses were and why they would be beneficial.
-
Don Hershey joined the Company in 1963. His knowledge of framing, combined with his mechanical aptitude, quickly showed he should run the production side of the business, Henry Chambers left in 1974.
-
In 2005 Imperial was purchased by Alliance Lumber and became Alliance TruTrus. Alliance Lumber is the largest distributor of framing products throughout the southwest. Through this merger between the two solid companies, our customers now enjoy the strength of our services and product knowledge.
Industry Leadership
The Company has been an innovative leader in the industry. A few facts attesting to its leadership are:
-
Held world record for both roof truss and floor truss production.
-
One of the first companies to develop a floor truss market.
-
Pioneered the commercial purlin truss and finger jointed tension tested chords.
-
The first truss plant to use short interval scheduling to reduce shop production time.
-
Imperial's founding management team has also been well recognized by their peers. Both Dave Chambers and Don Hershey served as President of The Wood Truss Council of America, Dave receiving a Life Service Award. Both Dave and Don were elected to the WTCA Hall of Fame.
-
Alliance TruTrus is actively involved in the board of directors of the Wood Truss Council of America (WTCA) and the Structural Roof Erectors Association (SREA).
